Cheryl Latif will be a featured reader on Saturday, April 14 at Tsuga Fine Art and Framing, 10101 Main St., Bothell WA. There will be some poems you haven’t heard as well as some favorites.
From Pamela Carter: The Parliament Tavern (4210 SW Admiral Way) will host The Drunken Owl Theatre when they read my one-act comedy, "Nesting Ground," Sunday 25 February at 7 p.m.
It would be wonderful to have you there. If you go, I'd appreciate any feedback on the play. The actors will be on script. There will be a second play read after mine.
A bit about it: Four individuals leave a cruise to search a small jungle island in the South Pacific for a glimpse of the nearly extinct kakapo. When they learn no one on board ship knows their whereabouts, they worry they may go extinct themselves. (The attachment is a kakapo photo.) If the story seems familiar, thank you! You attended an earlier version at Macha Monkey's reading of this play last year and I included you just to let you know what I am up to.
Claudia Castro Luna has been one of my favorite featured readers at PoetryBridge at C&P and we plan on having her read again this year. According to Humanities Washington and the Washington State Arts Commission, Claudia, "a prominent Seattle poet and teacher, has been appointed the fifth Washington State Poet Laureate by Governor Jay Inslee. Castro Luna fled war-torn El Salvador for the United States at the age of 14 with her family, and went on to earn an MFA in poetry and an MA in urban planning. After working as a K-12 teacher, she became Seattle’s first Civic Poet, a position appointed by the mayor. In that position, Castro Luna won acclaim for her Seattle Poetic Grid, an online interactive map of showcasing poems about different locations around the city. The grid even landed her an interview on PBS NewsHour. She is also the author of the poetry chapbook This City and the collection Killing Marías." Click here for the full article.

David Fewster’s poem, Ocean Avenue, Fall 1977 was published in the September 2017 issue of Free Venice Beachhead, a monthly newspaper, published in Venice, California. You can read his poem on page 9 of the September Issue.
Koon Woon is being sponsored, with an all-expense paid trip, to give a reading at the Woodland Patterns, a literary center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin sometime next spring.
Koon Woon has also just won a grant from the City of Seattle's Arts & Culture Office to finish a book he is writing about bicultural adaptation and assimilation.
