Our Summer Soiree Series Continues

As I pointed out last month, a soirée generally refers to an evening party or gathering, typically in a private house, for conversation or music and after all we are meeting in a former home, and it is in the evening, and poetry and storytelling are forms of music to my ears, so soirée is a fitting term.

Once again I am grateful of Koon Woon's recommendation of possible readers as Lew Jones and Katherine Grace-Bond got us off to a great start in June. Lew and Katherine filled our favorite coffee house with new voices with rich and textured sounds and images to my delight and everyone's.

They were followed by our amazing, and that is no hyperbole, Community Micers including Pam Carter, Samantha, Malya, Heidi, Catherine Slaton, Koon Woon, Ether and Fatima. Videos of each of their readings will be posted on the website soon and you will see what I mean.

Next up on July 26th is James Bertolino, who hails from Bellingham and Dorothy Lemoult, from Seattle. Click Here for more information on them and a link to the July Poster. Click Here to read several of their poems.

Our August 23rd reading will feature Marjorie Rommel who was appointed as Auburn's Poet Laureate in January 2015, and in this honorary role represents the poetic heart of an active poetry community in Auburn and hosts regular reading at the Rainbow Café.

She will be joined by a fellow poet, Cindy Hutchings, who wrote her first poetry chapbook, Tree Talk, to the tall Cedar that lives across the street from her, sitting in a rocker writing poems to the tree each day for a month.  MoonPath Press published them in Tree Talk as they were written day by day.
